The Pacific Salmon Foundation (PSF), in partnership with Inventa, launched the inaugural BC Salmon Recovery & Resilience Conference on December 3-4, 2024, at the Vancouver Convention Centre. This groundbreaking event gathered 450 leaders from government, science, conservation, and Indigenous communities to share knowledge, foster partnerships, and align efforts for salmon recovery.
Over two days, attendees engaged in thought-provoking keynote presentations, dynamic panel discussions, and strategic breakout sessions, all focused on addressing the urgent challenges facing salmon populations. A core theme of the event was relationship-building and collaboration, with speakers emphasizing the collective power of people to drive sustainable solutions—from climate adaptation and habitat restoration to fisheries management and policy reform.
Preceding the main conference, Inventa also coordinated the First Nations Salmon Forum on December 2, 2024, a dedicated space for Indigenous leaders and knowledge holders to discuss the intersection of salmon recovery and Indigenous-led conservation. The high demand for fully subscribed bursaries for Indigenous attendees reinforced the commitment to inclusivity and reconciliation in salmon conservation efforts.
