Invictus Games 2023 Canada House

Canada comes to Germany for the Invictus Games 2023 with Inventa

Igniting excitement for the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 in Germany

The Challenge

The Invictus Games use the power of sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation, and generate a wider understanding and respect for wounded, injured and sick service members and Veterans. In February 2025, over 75,000 people worldwide will take over Vancouver and Whistler for the Invictus Games, including active service members, Veterans and their families from over 20 nations. The 2025 edition will bring together over 500 competitors from 20 nations to compete in adaptive sports, including the new winter sports: Alpine Skiing, Skeleton, Wheelchair Curling and Nordic Skiing, in addition to the core Invictus Games sports of indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball.

But first, IG25 had the opportunity to host a Canadian Pavilion focused on promoting the upcoming Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 to the participating nations and potential volunteers, at the Invictus Games 2023 that took place in Dusseldorf, Germany from September 9-16, 2023.

Inventa was tasked with developing and overseeing an engaging space representing Vancouver, Whistler, the Host First Nations, and the new winter sports.

Canada House Pavilion Delivers!

The Solution

Inventa led a team of international stakeholders and production partners to develop an impactful and immersive experience to engage with the Participating Nations and locals from Dusseldorf.

As a strategic partner, Inventa was in charge of full concept development and experience design which resulted in creating a road map to the Invictus Games 2025. Focusing on what Vancouver, Whistler, and BC have to offer by exhibiting their landmarks on large and eye-catching visuals.

Then, following this introduction to BC, Inventa conceptualized, produced, and filmed a thrilling video presenting the new winter sports for the upcoming games. Mixing aerial views of Whistler Blackcomb with an Olympic sit skiing athlete, down the mountain, and an immersive Skeleton Go Pro sequence. Thanks to a large LED screen guests could really immerse themselves into the winter sports.

Interactive elements were also created such as a street curling rink demo, origami workshops, and a riveting photo op with a First Nation canoe specifically designed for the activation.

The Outcome

With over 160,000 people visiting the Invictus Village over the course of the 8 days, including 20,000 German military and 7,000 students from local schools, our IG25 – Canada House Pavilion was one of the highlights of the Invictus Village.

Our footprint was not only the biggest activation space in the Village but also the one with the highest production value.

The Pavilion saw the visit of several high-profile individuals such as the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex, the Chief of NASA, the German Minister of Defense as well as Squamish Nation councillor Sxwíxwtn, Wilson Williams, and many more.
