The Challenge

The Vancouver Hotel Destination Association already supports several major events in the city, but were looking enhance their destination offerings by: 

  • Wowing visitors in the downtown core with memorable winter themed experiences 
  • Dazzling Swifties coming to town for the last shows of the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour  

Inventa had to factor in the various challenges for a wide scope of outdoor activations – cooler wet weather, permit processes and approvals, plus keeping people engaged over several months.

Embracing winter with lights, action & attractions.

The Solution

This year marks Inventa’s first involvement with the event. Taking full charge of attendee management, speaker coordination, run-of-show development, and technical rehearsals, we ensured flawless execution from start to finish.

A series of memorable activations were brought to life in iconic spots throughout the city. They became must-visit destinations, all in the name of the festive season and T-Swift! 

  • Taylor Swift lyric-themed lit letter installations and concert ticket giveaway, located in 13 iconic spots across downtown. 
  • Holiday word-themed lit letter installations and a festive prize package, located in 12 iconic spots across downtown. 
  • Full size Ferris wheel, located at the Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza North. 
  • Festive lighting, including magical tree wraps and larger-than-life animals, located along the Coal Harbour Seawall. 
  • Free and family-friendly entertainment from local musicians, artists, and fire performers, located along the Coal Harbour Seawall.

On top of bringing these festive activations to life, Inventa helped spread the word!

  • A brand-new website and social channels were developed to host all the details and magic of Destination Downtown.
  • Development of a new, interactive contesting platform that could collect entries and provide a smooth guest experience.
  • External marketing packages which supported communications for the Vancouver Hotels Destination Association hotels to guests. 

We gave Vancouver a ride and showed them a time!

The Outcome

Inventa’s expertise and attention to detail played a crucial role in the success of the Vitality Gala. By seamlessly managing stakeholders and fostering a collaborative environment, we ensured every aspect of the event was executed to perfection. Our strategic coordination of the 30+ person planning committee and expert vendor management contributed to a smooth and highly impactful experience.

During Destination Downtown’s core activation dates, the campaign achieved:

  • 58,900+ Taylor Swift concert ticket giveaway and Holiday prize package contest entries
  • 22,000+ Ferris wheel rides 
  • 27,700+ interactions with entertainment along the Coal Harbour Seawall
  • 583,000 impressions from social media influencer campaigns 

Destination Downtown also earned prominent local media coverage from various outlets including (but not limited to):
